Hello I’m Jo, I own and run Good Karma Canines

I started dog walking in June 2011 when I opened my first dog walking company in Knaresborough.  In 2021 I relocated to a small village just north of York and after a little break to settle in to country life, I opened Good Karma Canines with the aim of providing quality care and a dog walking service I would want to use for my own dog.

I take a lot of pride in my work and I also take the responsibility of looking after other people’s dogs very seriously.  If you decide to entrust me with your dog, my promise to you is that I will advocate for them in your absence and I will prioritise their safety above everything else.

Dog walking does not require a license or any formal qualifications but I think education is important and I am committed to dedicating time to CPD.  Over the years I have actively developed my knowledge including puppy development, canine body language and communication, managing fearful or reactive behaviour and helping those dogs that sometimes struggle or become overwhelmed.

Offering care and adventures where the dogs in my charge are not only physically safe but feel safe is really at the heart of what I do.

When I’m not running Good Karma Canines, I’m usually hanging out with my husband Alex and my Weimaraner Belle.  I am currently trying to learn how to grow my own vegetables (without much success), I go to agility lessons with Belle and I love food and eating out.
