Vibe Check...
I am canine first aid trained, fully insured for dog walking and key holding, police checked & I can provide references. All new clients are asked to complete paperwork for my insurance purposes.
When I’m not walking straight from a clients home the dogs travel in my fully airconditioned vehicle, secure in a crate (separate to dogs from other homes).
I don’t use aversive tools such as prong collars, electric shock collars, choke chains or figure of 8 leads. Dogs will need a flat collar or preferably a Y shaped harness with front and back attachment.
I tend to use lots of treats to reward along with toys and lots of praise depending on what motivates each dog. If your dog is on a special diet I’ll discuss that with you.
On warm days walks are generally earlier in the day, walking time is sometimes reduced and I stick to spots with shade and water – when it is very hot and this isn’t enough to keep the dogs safe and cool walks will be cancelled and home visits offered instead for those dogs that are home alone.
Timings are given as a window rather than set time. This is to allow for traffic and to give me a bit of wriggle room should I need to take a detour to avoid a trigger with a nervous dog.
If your dog is muzzle trained and wears one away from home to keep them and others safe (or because they eat things they shouldn’t) that is no problem just so long as it is well fitted and allows for pant room.
